CLARABELLE #2 SUBSTATION UPGRADE – COPPER CLIFF, ON

TESC was responsible for the installation of all foundations related to the expansion of the Vale #2 Substation and Clarabelle Switching Station in Sudbury, Ontario.  The work required for this project related to Civil – Concrete Work consisted of the following:

  • Site Grading and drainage;
  • Micro-pile installation and load testing;
  • Foundations, including:
    • Electrical Control Building spread footing, piers and wall
    • Ensure that the existing fence line is preserved and/or maintained
    • T1 & T2 transformer foundations
    • Control pipes and conduits
    • Existing T3 transformer foundation extensions
    • Neutral Ground Resistors
    • Structure spread footings, foundations and embedded conduit sleeves
    • Breaker spread footings, foundations, embedded conduits
    • Anchor bolts
  • Surveying, including:
    • Completely excavated site
    • Micro-pile locations
    • Backfilled site
    • Top of foundations, piers and walls
    • Anchor bolts

TESC also completed all pipe penetrations through walls, floors, roofs, etc., including core drilling, sleeves, weather seals, flashing, etc.  Finally, the work included all electrical penetrations for cables, trays, etc., through walls, floors, roofs, etc., including core drilling, sleeves, weather seals, flashing, firestop, etc.  This project was completed in March 2016, on time and on budget, with zero lost time injuries.
