Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, the Buyer plays a key role in the strategic procurement of materials, supplies and services and third-party equipment rentals for TESC. This involves researching product pricing, delivery options, and quality to ensure that purchases adhere to company procedures and budgetary guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of materials, supplies, and services within established price limits and facilitate equipment rentals as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and inventory.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance for management review.
- Prepare Purchase Orders (POs) and amendments based on procurement requisitions.
- Ensure requisitions contain all necessary details and are properly authorized.
- Communicate with site personnel to clarify requisition details when necessary.
- Research product pricing, quality, and delivery times to ensure compliance with purchasing procedures.
- Collect and compare supplier quotes to make informed purchasing decisions, looking for opportunities to reduce expenses through better supplier agreements and alternate sourcing, adhering to company policies.
- Coordinate timely and cost-effective delivery of orders.
- Build and maintain strong, positive and professional relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure consistent quality and service.
- Address issues with incorrect, damaged, or missing shipments in collaboration with site personnel and suppliers.
- Work closely with Shop and Fleet Manager to meet site equipment needs.
- Conduct audits and analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- College diploma in Purchasing (preferred).
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); Jonas experience is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and self-motivation.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
