In 2011, TESC Contracting Saskatchewan mobilized to a greenfield potash mine site located in Leroy, Saskatchewan. The project included the complete supply and installation of a pre-engineered freeze plant building, engineering and procurement, pre-operational checks, and quality control/quality assurance.
The freeze plant encompassed civil, structural, and piping work. TESC was responsible for the installation of condenser units, the development of a freeze ring, and the establishment of HDPE piping. The team installed piping to freeze the ground 3000 feet deep to allow for the sinking of the shaft. Additionally, 1000 feet of welded piping connecting the freeze plant to the freeze ring was installed at this depth to circulate the brine.
The project included securing all relevant work permits, site orientations, site trailers, risk analysis for crane operation, rigging/hoisting of frames, bracing, purlins, girts, roof purlins and miscellaneous steel. Additional works included the installation of exterior wall cladding, roof panels, flashing, soffits, insulation, vapour barrier, interior liner, ventilator, louvers, doors with door frames and all interior finishes, site cleanup and demobilization. Throughout the project, TESC strictly adhered to all safety requirements, successfully achieving zero lost time injuries in the end. The project was successfully completed 26 days ahead of schedule.
The realization of this project demonstrates the team’s ability to execute multi-disciplined jobs across Canada, delivering quality workmanship and cost-effective project management methods to our clients every time.
