CLARABELLE MILL COPPER SEPARATION PROJECT – COPPER CLIFF, ON
In April of 2006, TESC Contracting Company Ltd. was awarded the Vale Inco, Clarabelle Mill, copper separation project. The project was a multi-disciplined cost-reimbursable project which lasted 427 days and 235,000 man hours without a disabling injury or lost time accident. With a peak of 256 workers, the project was mechanically completed 6 days ahead of schedule (September 27th, 2006) and the commissioning was completed 5 days ahead of schedule (October 21st, 2006)
TESC was employed as the general contractor to manage, procure and execute the construction activities which were broken down into 53 different scopes while engineering was being completed. The various packages entailed all ground work, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, electrical, equipment installation and commissioning of the various phases. This multi disciplined project involved the installation of 750 tons of structural steel, building all the installation of mechanical equipment and process piping along with all the modification inside the existing mill which involved removals, revamping existing equipment and tanks to suit the new process. All work was executed without interruption to an existing operation plant.
